Protect our Streams from Pollution!

The Campaign for Clean Water has been working to get our Buffers 100 campaign incorporated into the Erosion and Sediment Control (Chapter 102) state regulations. Unfortunately, DEP has decided only to require buffers on Exceptional Value (EV) streams. In addition, DEP’s proposed changes to Chapter 102 include a “permit-by-rule” (PBR) program where developers can get an expedited permit with no technical review of their E&S and stormwater management plans by DEP and no public comment opportunity. This is a dangerous proposal that could violate the Clean Water Act and lead to an increase in pollution to our streams.

The Chapter 102 regulation changes are currently open for public comment until November 30th. We need to flood the Environmental Quality Board (EQB) with letters demanding that forested buffers be mandatory on all streams in PA and that DEP continue to do technical review of all E&S and stormwater management plans! The health of our streams and our communities are at stake!.

We need your organization to sign on to the Campaign for Clean Water’s detailed comments and to send an individual letter from your group to the EQB by November 30th.

Below you will find the CCW sign on letter, a sample letter and talking points for writing your own letter, a link to more information about the Buffers 100 Campaign and the text of Chapter 102 with the proposed changes.

Also, please send a copy of your individual letter to Anne Misak.

You can submit your letter from your organization to the EQB by mail to:
